Friends

Your address book. Once someone is a confirmed friend you can drop them into any group instantly, with no invite link to mint and send.

It is not a social network: no directory, no way to look anyone up, and nobody can add you without you accepting an invite first.

Inviting someone new​

Tap the invite button at the top of the Friends tab; FEN mints a link and offers to share or copy it.

  • It expires after 24 hours. Mint a new one if it goes unused.
  • It contains a key. Anyone who opens it joins as that invitee — send it to one person, through a channel you trust.

Pending invites​

A sent invite shows as Invite sent — waiting to join, and becomes a normal friend entry once they join and your device syncs. With no push, that may take until your next refresh.

  • Copy invite link — the same link again, for when you minted it and lost it. The original 24-hour deadline still applies.
  • Delete invite — withdraws it.

Expired and withdrawn invites drop off the list on their own.

Joining an invite you received​

Tapping an invite link opens FEN and asks whether to join.

If the link doesn't open the app — some messengers rewrite them, and links out of email often arrive as plain text — use the paste button on the Friends tab instead.

Joining needs no storage backend of your own: you take part fully through the owner's.

Friend details​

Tap a confirmed friend to set your name for this friend — local to your device, so it changes how you see them and nothing else.

The list flags a few states:

  • owes you / you owe — a summary across the groups you share.
  • Direct invite unavailable — the private channel between the two of you isn't usable, so adding them to a group will fall back to an invite link.
  • Removed you — they unfriended you from their side.

Deleting a friend​

Delete friend removes them from your list and tears down the private channel between you.

It does not remove them from shared groups and touches no expense or balance — this is your address book, not the money. To remove someone from a group, use ⋮ › Remove member there.

How friends speed up groups​

Inside any group, Members › Add a known friend lists confirmed friends not yet in it. Picking one adds them directly — no link, no expiry, no waiting.

This runs over the private channel established when you became friends; if that channel is unavailable, the app says so and offers an invite link instead.
